Magazine Front Covers

 L/o: to identify the features on a magazine front cover; to explore genre codes and conventions

Masthead- found at the top of the front cover, the title of the magazine if short name it is put on the top left 

Dateline- The date the magazine was published at the top corner of the page often with the price around the masthead or near the barcode 

Main image- a representation of the information inside the magazine found across the front cover 

Cover lines- a line of text briefly describing and promoting content inside the magazine. found around the outside of the page around the main image. 

Main cover line- smaller than the masthead but bigger than the cover lines. found din the middle of the page on the left links to the main image often the inly cover line allowed over the top of the main image 

bar code/price- how much the magazine costs and where it can be scanned so you can buy it. found in the bottom corner of the page. magazine without barcode is normally free magazines with barcodes are normally published to be sold 

Tagline/Strap line- short line or phrase to describe what is inside the magazine found around the masthead 

Pull quote- a brief, attention catching quote taken from the main text of an article and used as a subheading or graphic feature.
